It's hard when our children struggle in school with learning or behavior. Working with the school is essential and can be really stressful. Maybe your child already has a 504 or an IEP, or maybe you think they should. Maybe the school is helpful or not, or maybe you just want to understand all the ins and outs more thoroughly.

And maybe you could just use a little help from an experienced teacher and parent of a children with diversities.

IEP and 504 Support

There's a lot a parent needs to know when it comes to special education. There are so many ACRONYMS! The paperwork can be confusing and hard to wrap your head around.

An experienced teacher and parent who has been there (with both a 504 and IEP) can help you make sense of the chaos to ensure you are empowered to be your child's best advocate.

At School Support

Working with your child's school in a positive and collaborative way is essential to your child's success. Sometimes it can be very challenging and intimidating. I can help you sort through the paperwork, the emails, read between the lines, and help you put a frayed relationship with the school back on track or stay on track. I can attend meetings with you to support your family. You are your child's best advocate and I can help you be just that!

I'd love to be able to use all my knowledge and skills with my own kids, but sometimes they aren't interested in hearing from me...yet again.

Having additional positive adults in your child's life can make a huge difference. My own family has benefitted from tutors, counselors, teachers, coaches, Scout leaders, and neighbors. I offer one-to-one and small group student support. These classes focus on building self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-advocacy. See here for more details.

Not sure how to best accommodate your child at home? Learn from an experienced teacher and parent and self-proclaimed "master accommodator". If your child can't do something, I can help you understand the steps to get your child there. These tools work for school work and at home responsibilities too.

Yep, been there (a few times). Finding the right school or learning environment is essential. It's great to have so many options in Arizona, but it can be even more overwhelming. When you are looking for a new space so your child can learn, we can help you start an initial search, narrow it down, tour the school with you, and work with the school for a smooth transition.
