Hello, IEP!

The IEP document can be really helpful...and confusing. It's usually a one-size-fits-all document the IEP team is tasked with fine-tuning for a specific child. Sometimes it works well...but most of the time parents are overwhelmed with trying to remember what all is in the document. And take it from me, a former teacher, it's hard for most teachers to keep track of it all too. The Hello, IEP class is a hands-on workshop designed to help you get to know your child's IEP more fully, so you can feel ready for the next meeting, or when something seems a little, or a lot, off track. Deconstructing the Document

Our first step in getting to know your child's IEP is to deconstruct the document. You'll bring a one-sided copy of the IEP. We'll cut it up and reorganize in a way that makes sense to you. It is powerful work when you realize you own the IEP, it doesn't own you!

Making the Most of Accommodations

Accommodations? Modifications? What's the difference? What does my child need? How can these help or not help my child? How can I fine-tune these to better support my child? All these questions will be answered as we dive deeply into the accommodations list and categorize them for more meaningful action.

Goals Unite

Sometimes goals are all over the place in an IEP. Maybe they are supported by data, maybe not. Maybe they are measurable, maybe not. We'll jump into the world of your child's IEP goals and explore their quality. You'll leave with a better understanding of the current goals with knowledge to make them better at the next IEP meeting.
